Reset Key Igt Slot Machine

Slot machine reset keys were considered an innocuous gaming industry tool until the Peppermill situation. One 2341 key can be used on slot machines manufactured by IGT - International Game Technology, Bally Technologies, Inc., WMS Industries Incorporated and others. IGT Key chips are used to enter the menus and setup options This new key and clear chip is not backward compatible and will only work with the new 044 enhanced memory themes When using an I-game + with a 044 board with a memory board you need to use a KEY00028 - This fits into U30 position How to use the KEY00028 program: Remove the base chip.

Hi
I went though and did search on the problem I am having with a slot machine. I got a phone call to service an IGT slot. When I got there I found that the battery was bad and replaced it with a new one. I got the standard error code 61 and I then held the button in until 61 1 came up. I then shut the door and hit the key switch to reset it. The dreaded error cod 61 pop up. So I grab my clear chip and placed it in the board and clear the ram out. Put the game chip back in and a few seconds latter 61 pops up. I did the reset and still no good. I then thought maybe the key switch or the door sensor optics was bad. I could not get it into I/O test so I used my meter on the switch and the optic door sensor. and everything checked out okay. I was able to run my meter wire inside the machine and hooked up to the receiver door sensor and closed the door to see if it was out of aligned. The door sensor worked like it was suppose to when the door was close. I am running out of ideas. I have read other post about the 61 error code and I have done everything I read on this machine. I am hoping someone can tell me something that I am missing.
Thanks
Dorato

Hi,
I cannot find the switch test button on my IGT. It is generally near the power on/off button but not on my slot.
I need to find that switch to change my game kit.
Thank you.

It should be on the back of the Power On/Off Switch casing, or on the Power Supply itself in the front. (probably left hand side)- check behind the power on/off switch first! >

On a game change, clearing the 61 code that goes to a corrupt eprom code is frustrating. I am advised tha some game eproms require turning the reset key more than once to clear the bad eprom code. Mine comes up that way each time, not text book at all; but turning the reset key a given number of times takes the bad code away..my eproms are not corrupted even though it says so in the error code.
You can also try a ram clear, that usually fixes it; If you don't have a clear chip, carefully remove the CMOS Chip and ground out all the pins on a piece of metal; then reinstall it; ram should clear. Good luck!

65 is memory corruption.
This commonly occurs when you change your game chip between major series. Ie 731 to 1271 or vice versa.
Open the door turn the reset key. This puts it into the statistics mode. Then hold the reset button in for about 3 seconds. You should get the ding and your 61 should come back. Then proceed through your game change as per the instructions you have.
